No doughnut awards

One day at the Easter Show, I went for a stroll in the Art and Crafts Pavilion, because I like art and crafts. I also like pavilions.
I came to the showcase with the winners for the cooked bakery things.
There were breads and scones (of course there were scones).
There were fruit cakes and sponges.
There were cupcakes and lamingtons.
Chocolate cakes, biscotti…
Vanilla slices, caramel slices, coconut slices…
Even gingerbread men.
Gingerbread men? Like, it takes a genius to make gingerbread men!

One thing was missing. Doughnuts! Where are the doughnuts?
There are endless makers of doughnuts in New South Wales. Surely one of them would bother to enter their doughnut into the Easter Show to win an award.
Surely.
Apparently not.
It makes me wonder why.
I checked the rules and conditions of entry. ‘Doughnut’ was definitely there among the classes in the Professional Bakery section.
Perhaps the stipulations are what prevents people.
All exhibits must be produced from scratch. They can’t pre-mix ingredients. At least 85% of the ingredients must be Australian grown.
Is this why there are no doughnuts?
Come on Australia. You can do better.
