Mug Life Cafe in Pyrmont is the only official stockist of Dr Dough Donuts.
I’ve been there several times to get a doughnut, and each time the staff is extremely helpful – sometimes a bit overbearingly helpful (just pull it back a little bit, guys).

On my last visit, I got a Lamington Doughnut.
Here’s the description of it on their website:
Chunky strawberry jam filled, topped with hazelnut spread and shredded coconut.
Well, it wasn’t chunky jam. It was runny jam, and I’m sure it was the flavoured apple puree. Okay, no big deal. I can live with that.

I didn’t realise the topping was going to be hazelnut spread (Nutella). I’m not a big fan of Nutella, and I would have been much, much happier with chocolate icing. Chocolate would have been closer to the lamington experience that I was hoping for.
It had loads of shredded coconut on top, which gave it a terrific appearance.

The doughnut was coated in sugar, which it didn’t need to be.

If you like Nutella, I’m sure you’d like this doughnut. It doesn’t rank among my Dr Dough favourites, but I’m sure lots of people will adore it.
