It was time for breakfast as my wife and I drove through Kawakawa, a little town near the Bay Of Islands.

Kawakawa is so good they named it twice, like Wagga Wagga, Woy Woy and New York New York.
I spotted the Kawakawa Bakehouse Cafe & Roasts and I had to have a look inside.
It was quite busy for a wet and miserable Sunday morning.

There were a few doughnuts sitting inside a serve-yourself display case, but they were all commercially made.
I didn’t mind the look of their meat pies, but I gave it all a miss.
Like many small food outlets, they don’t have a website or even a Facebook page. Even the independent reviews appear limited to Tripadvisor.
