The irony of calling a doughnut store ‘Walker’s’ is not lost on me. It’s like calling a health food store ‘Fatty’s’, or a swimwear store ‘Winter’s’.

Nonetheless, Walker’s makes a pretty fine doughnut.

Don’t know whether to love or hate that kid

I’ve been back to the new store at Darling Harbour a few times.

I’ve noticed that the icing on their doughnuts has an extra sheen. It’s vividly bright. Perhaps it’s just the clever lighting. That being said, I find it difficult to get a good photo of their display, thanks to the lighting.

On a recent visit, I got a Banana Custard Doughnut. Again, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The icing gave it a banana flavour, while the custard inside was soft and creamy. It had a sprinkling of nutmeg on top for that authentic banana custard flavour.

Soft, creamy custard

I’m pretty sure the custard is the same as what was in the Pineapple Splice Ball.

I have to say, I am pleased Walker’s is up and running at Darling Harbour. Long may they live.
