Donut Papi is a place I love going back to. They have a big selection of nice, fresh doughnuts and warm, welcoming service. Their choice of flavours changes from month to month, although they do have some stable choices.
On this occasion, I got the slightly unusual Leche Flan Bombo, which was explained to me as being like a crème caramel doughnut. My extensive research tells me Leche Flan is more or less, the same as a crème caramel and is a popular dessert in the Philippines, which is where the owner of Donut Papi is from. Importantly for my dear readers, the Leche Flan Bombo is one of their limited edition flavours.
It was late in their trading day when I walked in, and I think I got the last one. There was a spare table, so I decided to dine in with a milkshake.
The doughnut was deliciously light. If it wasn’t weighed down with custard, it might have floated away. The custard was quite runny. There was a chunk of crème caramel sitting on top of a blob of custard. A healthy dose of soft icing sugar was sprinkled on top.
One thing I really like about this one is that it is not too sweet. The custard is not sickly sweet and the icing sugar on top doesn’t add too much to the overall sweetness.
I noticed Donut Papi is getting into merchandise. There are a few little things for sale with and without their brand on it.
They have been known to sell out before the end of their trading day, which I have discovered first hand, so don’t be late.
