It’s been a while since I reviewed a Berliner Bakery doughnut, and I’m pleased to say they are still first class quality.
There is nothing fancy about Berlin Bakery doughnuts. The flavours are not unique and there are no over-the-top toppings. They’re not needed. It’s the quality and the simplicity that makes these doughnuts above average.

I got my favourite flavour – Rhubarb and Custard. I’ve written about this one before.
The filling is handmade by the owner, Rachael. So too, of course, is the dough, which is cooked to perfection.
The dough gives way beautifully when you bite into it. It’s a little bit chewy, which is ideal for a doughnut with filling. The inside is soft and moorish.
A great doughnut, and one of Sydney’s best.

Berliner Bakery doughnuts are sold at various markets around Sydney. Check their socials for the latest updates – they are pretty active on social media, especially Instagram. I believe they have also started a pop-up store or two around Sydney – again I recommend checking with them for the latest locations. They also deliver now, so that might be a good option. Yes, they are growing. And you’ll find them at the Sydney Easter Show again this year.
It’s testament to the quality of the doughnuts that they usually sell out at all the markets where they’re sold. If you plan on getting one, don’t be late.
