I have driven past Queens Pastri House at Ramsgate many times and promised myself I’d drop in one day to check them out. Well, I finally got the chance to stop the car and have a peek inside.

Wow, what a selection of excellent pastries. Visually, this place is a treat. And importantly, they had home-made doughnuts and cronuts.

The hard part was deciding what to go for on my first visit. I went for the Iced Cronut. For the record, they also had cronuts coated in cinnamon sugar – both are house-made.

My cronut was good.

It was fresh and soft. The layers of pastry looked lovely. It was cooked perfectly.

The icing was standard fare – pretty much icing sugar. It was at the perfect consistency – not crispy and not too soft. It had a generous amount, giving the pastry the sweetness it needed.

The pastry left a floury/buttery taste in my mouth – that’s what it does, so nothing unusual there.

I loved this place. The service was a little ordinary at first, but improved after someone was realised I wasn’t impressed for being ignored.

Most people seem to eat in at Queens Pastri House. It’s a bit cramped and noisy.
