The Polish delicatessen, Taste Of Poland, has been in Riverwood for several years, and I’m ashamed to say that I had never walked in there. However, following my recent trip to Poland, I thought it was well and truly time that I walk in and discover what they have.
I had heard they make Polish donuts, so I was keen to give one a try.

On my first visit, the lady told me they are made on Thursdays and their stock generally runs out by Saturday. I was there on a Tuesday, so no luck for me that day. So I made a point of going back on a Thursday, and sure enough, there were plenty of beautiful looking donuts in the store.
They make 2 different varieties – one has a mixed jam filling, which is the one I got. I can’t remember what the other one is, but I’ll get it next time I go back, which won’t be too far away.

My donut with the mixed berry jam filling was scrumptious. Every bit as good as the ones I tried in Poland.
The outside had a vanilla glazing, just like so many of the ones I saw in Poland.
The dough was soft and had a yellow tinge. It was slightly sweet and had a very nice flavour.
The jam filling was apparently a mix of strawberry and raspberry, but I’m quite sure it was a commercially made jam, not homemade. There was a good ratio of filling to dough.

At just $4.99 each, the value was excellent.
If you’re in Riverwood late in the week, be sure to drop in for a lovely Polish donut from Taste Of Poland.
