A good friend of mine was passing through Bowral recently and got me a Bee Sting Donut from Dolly’s Donuts.
It’s described on their website as: Brioche donut filled with vanilla bean custard and vanilla mascarpone, topped with a chocolate honey glaze, vanilla buttercream and caramelised almonds.
What a beautiful donut.
Sweet, but not sickly so. Lots of flavours working in harmony to create a delicious taste sensation.
Visually, it’s striking with a light brown glazed topped with almonds, mascarpone and that piece of milk chocolate on top.
And the flavours do it all justice.
There is tonnes of custard and mascarpone including a big dollop on top. It’s not too sweet and is stiff enough so that it’s not running down your arm while you’re trying to eat it.
The luscious chocolate honey glaze is just the right thickness.
This one’s a beauty.
