I bought a 6-pack of Brooklyn donuts for a school fundraiser. It was a mixed pack.
The first one I ate was the Lemon Meringue Donut.
It’s okay without being memorable.
The meringue on top is a nice touch. It’s sweet and creamy.
The dough was firm and quite fresh.
The lemon curd inside the donut was a but lean. By that I mean that there wasn’t much there. You can see by the photos. What there was of it was okay as far as the flavour is concerned. But there should be more of it.
It’s a common comment about donuts from Brooklyn – there never seems to be much filling. That’s rather diappointing, because it’s the filling that often makes or breaks a donut.
So it might be a good thing to remember when you get donuts from Brooklyn – avoid the ones with filling because they will be disappointing.
