The town of Bowral is in the Southern Highlands of NSW, about 1.5 hours drive south of Sydney. It’s a nice place that draws a lot of tourists and when I go there it always seems to be cold.
Dolly’s Donuts has set up a new shop there, which makes it their second shop after Glenbrook in western Sydney.

I’ve tried their Glenboook donuts before and I was most impressed. So I was excited about trying their Bowral donuts.
When you walk down the mall where the store is, you can watch them making the donuts.
I got one called Mango Weis. This is interesting. I’m assuming they are borrowing the name from the Weiss Mango Bar which is my absolute favourite ice-cream.

It was a nice donut. Here is the description of the Mago Weis Donut from their website: A brioche donut filled with a mango mousse, topped with coconut glaze and finished with mango buttercream and coconut.
So, let’s break that down.
The dough was soft and spongy.
Inside the donut was mango mousse. But there was also some mango buttercream. I actually don’t know how they put the buttercream in and also get the mango mousse to sit perfectly in the centre. Intriguing! No matter how they do it, the combination made it a very good flavour that wasn’t too sweet.

The coconut glaze on the top was excellent. Soft and sweet and it suited the donut well.
Then there was a dollop of mango buttercream and coconut sprinkled on top. It added a nice touch and made it visually striking.
All up, a very nice donut, however I’d like to try more flavours because I’m sure there would be better ones there.
