I recently took a trip to Bowral in the NSW Southern Highlands. It’s a lovely spot, but a bit chilly in Winter.
There’s a small but busy shop there called Gumnut Patisserie, which is based in Mittagong. They have doughnuts, but they are doughnuts aimed at kids. The only type they had when I was there was Chocolate Iced and it had sprinkles on top. I’d love to see them do more adult flavours.

They had lots of cakes and pastries for sale. Of course, I skipped all the beautiful looking goods and got a Chocolate Iced Doughnut with the sprinkles. I checked with the helpful assistant who served me that the doughnut was made by Gumnut, and he assured me it was, and was produced in their Mittagong bakery.
It was very nice. Sort of like you’re typical iced doughnut. Nothing outstanding, but enjoyable nonetheless.

The dough was soft and bread-like.
The chocolate icing was soft and full of flavour. And of course, it had some sprinkles on it too for visual appeal.

A good doughnut, but as I said, I’d love to see them do adult doughnuts, which as a respected patisserie, I’m sure they’d do well.
