It’s difficult to find a better doughnut in Sydney than Berliner Bakery’s Raspberry Doughnut.
Of course, it depends on personal taste, but as doughnuts with jam are among the most favourite, this one stands high.
The dough is beautifully cooked. Not overdone, not underdone. Just right. The outer shell is firm and coated in caster sugar.
The dough is soft and chewy with a good flavour that’s designed to complement the filling. There’s no sour aftertaste like you get with some deep fried doughnuts.

The raspberry jam is homemade. It is a perfect blend of sweet and tart. Not too runny. And there’s plenty of it, so you can enjoy it with every mouthful of dough.
An adult’s doughnut that’s difficult to resist.
Berliner Bakery pops up at several market stalls around Sydney, mainly the markets close to the CBD. I got this one at Kings Cross where you’ll find them every Saturday.
