You wouldn’t expect Sonoma to make doughnuts. Well, I didn’t. But they do.
I got my Custard Doughnut from one of the Sonoma market stalls.

The first thing I noticed was the price.
$5 each. I think that’s a little bit too much. I mean, a loaf of Sonoma bread costs about $8. And the doughnut was a lot smaller than a loaf of bread.

As you would expect from Sonoma, the dough was very nice. I guess it’s a type of sourdough. So the flavour is different to your average custard doughnut.
It was covered in sugar.
The custard was nice and creamy, not too thick and not runny at all.
They had doughnuts filled with Nutella as well.

I’ve never seen the doughnuts in a store that sells Sonoma bread, so perhaps they are exclusively for the market stands. And their website doesn’t list doughnuts among their range. So it’s a bit of a mystery.
All up – it was good, but a little over-priced.
