Great name – Weirdoughs.

Tucked away in Flinders Lane in the Melbourne CBD, Weirdoughs say they ‘combine old school baking techniques with modern sustainability’ and that they are a ‘plant-based patisserie and gelateria’. In other words, not only are they vegan, but they produce some unusual things to boot.

That includes what they call ‘Weirdoughnuts’.

Unfortunately, while I did visit the store, I didn’t get the chance to get one of their creations. But I have it on good authority that they are very good, especially as far as vegan foods go.

I was amazed by their cube croissant – which is exactly what it is – a croissant in the shape of a perfect cube (see top left of the picture below).

They also do unusual gelato flavours that include eggplant and sweet potato.

They seem happy to live up to their name – Weirdoughs.
