Vegan Jam Donut @ The Village Bakery, Docklands Sunday Markets, Melbourne
My daughter didn’t want to go to Melbourne to visit her sister. “Too cold, too wet, too Melbourne,” she wailed.
“They have the best doughnuts in Australia,” I said.
Next minute she was on the plane, studying the DomNuts website for artistic and journalistic style.
The sisters met each other and made a bee-line for Docklands Sunday Markets.

They spotted The Village Bakery stall, loaded to the hilt with good stuff, including doughnuts, cronuts and soft pretzels.
They had vegan and non-vegan foods.
My daughter got the Vegan Jam Donut, quite brave given that vegan doughnuts are generally pretty ordinary.

The person at the stall said it tastes like a normal doughnut because they make it from scratch whereas a lot of vegan doughnuts are made from a packet. Geez, I didn’t know that. I wonder how many vegan doughnuts are pre-mixed.
My daughter was impressed by the price – just $3 for that massive doughnut.

Her words to describe the flavour:
It was amazkngggg
So good
Tasted normal
The last comment means she didn’t detect any difference in taste from a non-vegan doughnut.
The first comment is just my wacky daughter’s way with words.
I should point out that my daughter isn’t vegan. She is almost vegetarian.

The doughnut was soft and had plenty of jam inside. Looks good for a vegan doughnut.
Apart from the market stall, The Village Bakery has a store in Brunswick.
