Bougatsa @ Chris’s Beacon Point Restaurant & Villas, Skenes Creek, Victoria
A short drive away from Apollo Bay is a place called Skenes Creek. Not much there except a resort called Beacon Point with a restaurant called Chris’s.
The scenery is breath-taking, looking out over the hill and onto the Great Ocean Road, the beach and Bass Strait.
As part of our Beacon Point accommodation deal, breakfast was included. The choices were good, and while it didn’t include anything resembling a doughnut, it did have a Greek dessert called Bougatsa. I enjoyed it on both mornings we stayed at Chris’s.
It’s not a doughnut, and probably doesn’t belong on this blog, but I reckon I can bend the rules once in a while and here it is.
It’s a delicious custard wrapped in pastry, dusted with soft sugar and nutmeg, and occasionally with a strawberry slice on top.
Just another reason to love Greeks.
