There’s a new collaboration on the market – Nescafe and Krispy Kreme. They have come up with doughnut-flavoured coffee. Okay, I’m interested.

So I got a box of each flavour – Doughnut Latte and Strawberry Doughnut Latte.

These are come in sachets – there are 8 sachets in each box.

I’m not a huge fan of the sachet coffee. They always lack the depth and strength of machine-made coffee, but we’re talking instant coffee so we have to be a bit flexible with our taste.

I tried the plain one first.

I expected a sweet flavour like a Krispy Kreme original glazed doughnut. But when I tried it, I didn’t detect anything with that distinct flavour. Sure. it was sweet, but not like a doughnut.

So I tried the Strawberry Doughnut Latte one.

It was certainly sweeter, but again, I didn’t taste anything that made it uniquely Krispy Kreme.

I found it disappointing that there was no real doughnut flavour going on.

I’ve had this experience before, where brands do special edition items saying they are doughnut-flavoured when clearly they aren’t really. It’s all a marketing exercise.
