Where has the year gone? It barely feels like it’s been 12 months let alone a year since we celebrated National Doughnut Day in 2024. But here we go again.

National Doughnut Day is on the first Friday in June each year. So this year, it’s 6 June.

So what is National Doughnut Day?

It’s that one day of the year where doughnuts rightly take centre stage and become the central focus of the entire country.

Forget wars and foreign disputes, stock market crashes and selfish levies. National Doughnut Day lets us all join hands and live under one common jam-filled sky of belief.

So what is happening this year for National Doughnut Day?

Pretty much the same as every year.

Some doughnut stores will encourage you to buy their douhgnuts. Other doughnut stores will do some promotions, like free doughnuts.

The most notable every year is Krispy Kreme. They usually give away 100,000 doughnuts on National Doughnut Day. Let’s see if they do it again this year.

I will try to post information as it comes to hand about what stores are doing for National Doughnut Day.

Donut King: They are quick off the mark this year. They are offering free hot cinnis (that’s what they call cinnamon doughnuts), but you better check the disclaimers. They have a brief version on the page, but click the link and you’ll see a page and a half of terms and conditions. Geez, it’s just a free small doughnut.

Donut King has also collaborated with Ovolo Hotels to create a suite dedicated to their Cinnamon Doughnuts. It’s an unusual promotion. I wonder how well it worked.

Dr Dough Donuts: Just reminding you that it’s National Donut Day – no special offer.

Mama’s Kiwi Donuts: Oops – they got the date wrong. It’s 6 June.

Big Fat Greek: They’re getting in on the act with free loukoumades (Greek doughnuts) with orders over $25 after 5pm.

OMG Decadent Doughnuts: Nothing too special, but reminding you about Donut Day.

Grumpy Donuts: Nothing special on offer.

Krispy Kreme: As expected, they are giving away 100,000 free doughnuts, but only at their stores (which excludes service stations and supermarkets where they are also sold).

Donut Garage: The Donut Garage in Marrickville is giving away free donuts. They were a bit vague about the catch.

Diego’s Donuts: Get a free donut when you buy a drink.
