After a recommendation, I dropped in to Vinny’s at Oatley only to be disappointed that they had sold out of their special doughnuts. So I went back on another day, this time earlier in the day, and to my delight, they had some.
Firstly, they call their doughnuts Maratozzi. I have never heard of them before. I googled them. Despite their spelling error (Maritozzi), they are a brioche bun filled with cream. Not an exact match, but very similar to a doughnut. I’ve seen similar things from other sellers who call them Italian Doughnuts.

Anyway, at Vinny’s there was a choice of 2 flavours. I got the Salted Honey Maratozzi. The other one had some sort of Milo flavour.
The bun was like a bread roll. It wasn’t sweet at all, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be. It was lovely and fresh, quite chewy and held the filling nicely. It had a glaze on top, but it wasn’t sweet.

The filling was very light and fluffy cream with a salted honey flavour. Delicious. It had some crushed pistachio nuts sprinkled on top.
All round, a very nice doughnut – or Maratozzi.
