The cinnamon doughnuts in the display case of Butterfingers Bakery in Tuncurry looked pretty good. Refer to photo. So I bought 2.

I when I opened my bag, mine were nowhere near as pretty as the ones in the window. Mine were covered in moon craters. Which doesn’t really bother me. I mean, a doughnut doesn’t have to look perfect to taste good. But I can’t help but think they deliberately kept the ugly ones within their reach and kept the pretty ones for the display. Maybe I’m just a conspiracy theorist. Or paranoid. Or delusional.

Whatever, I was still looking forward to eating my cinnamon doughnuts.

They were okay. Not the greatest cinnamon doughnuts I’ve ever had, but you rarely get exceptional ones from a bakery that does lots of other things. Doughnuts aren’t usually their specialty.

The shell was just a little bit crispy, which is good. The dough was a little bit tough. It was coated in a good amount of cinnamon sugar.

The doughnuts in little bakeries like Butterfingers are usually there to satisfy the kids, who aren’t likely to be doughnut aficionados (although I was by my early teens). So doughnuts aren’t their strong suit. That’s okay. For what I expected, the doughnuts were alright.

By the way, they don’t appear to have a website or a social media page.
