Pasticceria Dolce Bella is based at South Penrith, but they do markets and pop-up stands around the place. They recently came to Menai Markets where my daughter got me a Custard Log.

A Custard Log is an Italian doughnut, and is much like a cannoli with a soft shell. The custard is often the same.

The one from Pasticceria Dolce Bella is like many other Custard Logs I’ve had before, and was very nice.

The dough was oily which is typical of the Italian doughnuts.

It had a very light coating of sugar, which tends to melt away the longer you leave it.

The custard was perfect. Not too sweet. It was a very light yellow and had the right, firm consistency for a Custard Log.
