I generally avoid buying doughnuts from suburban bread shops. The doughnuts are usually just treats for kids. But sometimes I’ll indulge, like I did recently on my visit to Engadine in Sydney’s south.

I haven’t been to Engadine for years and years, so when I was nearby, I dropped in to check out the local doughnut scene.

I found Jenny’s Hot Bread & Cakes, and noticed some doughnuts in the display case.

One thing that stood out for me was that they were quite large. They also had smaller ones, but I had to go the whole hog and get a big one.

It was quite nice, and fairly standard for a suburban bread shop doughnut.

The dough was soft and fresh.

The chocolate icing was not to hard and not too soft, which is how doughnut icing should be.

This big guy took me 2 sittings to eat.

A very nice doughnut and for the size was well worth the money.
