I recently took a road trip north of Sydney and dropped into Buladelah for some lunch. I think the town used to get a lot more visitors before they put in a bypass a few years ago.

I went to the town’s only bakery, called funnily enough, Buladelah Bakery, which was on the main street. They had a few things that you’d expect to find in an old-style country bakery, including meat pies, sausage rolls, and bread.

Among other things, I got a Chocolate Doughnut.

I wasn’t expecting much from it, because the doughnuts were obviously there to please the kids.

But I was pleasantly surprised. It was quite nice. And fresh.

The dough was soft and airy and had a nice flavour.

The chocolate icing was also soft and held up well in the heat of a summer’s day. There was a generous amount of icing too. it was topped off with lots of hundreds & thousands.
