I love discovering new places in this wonderful land of ours, so I while I was on the New South Wales mid-coast I dropped into Blueys Beach, which is regarded as one of the most beautiful in Australia.

It’s one of those coastal towns with a few shops, including, of course, a bakery. That was my first stop.

The options on offer were your typical country bakery items – meat pies and sausage rolls, tarts and slices. They had a few cinnamon doughnuts as well.

When I asked the girl serving for a couple of prices, her hesitation and thought-process suggested she might have been making the prices up. A vanilla slice for $8.50 pretty much confirmed my suspicion.

Anyway, the doughnuts were $2 each, so I got a couple.

They were okay without being phenomenal.

They had a good coating of cinnamon sugar – not too much, not too little.

The dough was fresh and soft.

The outer shell wasn’t too firm.

They were enjoyable, however not memorable.

The doughnut options aren’t too many around that area, so if you’re craving one, Blueys Bakehouse is probably your only option.
