Unfortunately, this is another post where by the time you read this, the donut seller has packed up and moved on. You see, I was at the United Cup tennis tournament in Sydney Olympic Park and there were no less than 3 food trucks selling donuts and coffee. I think they might have been the same vendor but I’m not sure.
Anyway, I was hankering for a donut or 4 so I got some from one of the Donuts & Coffee food trucks – or more accurately – food caravans.

When I ordered my donuts, one of the other staff magically put a bag with 4 cinnamon donuts in front of me and said ‘$10 thanks’. In other words, they were already cooked and bagged and sitting in a warmer for who knows how long.
Here’s the issue: as much as I like the speedy service, it means my donuts weren’t freshly cooked. And the problem is that when I tasted them, I could tell they weren’t freshly cooked.
They were chewy and rubbery while cinnamon donuts should be soft and easy to chew.
On the plus side, I am sure that the cinnamon sugar was not pre-mixed as it had quite a nice distinctive flavour.
The Donuts & Coffee food caravans move around from event to event, including the Sydney Easter Show. So if you’re happy with service over quality, give them a try.
