I found this pack of twist donuts in Foodworks in Redfern one evening when I was in Redfern craving a quick snack.

Even though I am wary of pre-packaged donuts, I thought two donuts at a good price sounded fine to me. Pre-packaged donuts aren’t usually fresh. They could have been sitting on the shelf for a while, waiting for their Best Before Date to expire.

Although they weren’t labelled as Kkwabaegi – which is a Korean Twist Donut – they were the same thing. Bread Avenue is a commercial bakery who supplies to Korean supermarkets. Foodwise is a Korean supermarket not far from Redfern station (and the people there are lovely).

I got on the train home and opened my pack.

The donuts were quite fresh. They were soft and chewy. There was a light coating of sugar on the outside, which added just the right amount of sweetness to the flavour.

So, I was pleasantly surprised by the donuts. I wasn’t expecting them to be great but they were quite good as far as pre-packaged donuts go.
