I recently took a trip from Byron Bay to the Gold Coast. It’s a lovely part of Australia, and nice and warm in winter.
One evening, I was looking for something sweet after a meal and found the Byron Hot Bread Kitchen still open and doing a roaring trade.

I got one of their Jam Donuts.
Other options in their donuts were Nutella, plain cinnamon and iced.
Of course, the first thing I noticed was that the person who served me shoved the donut in the bag, meaning the jam dollop on top was now stuck to the bag. So many places do this and simply don’t care. It disappoints me, it really does. I want the jam on my donut, not on the bag.

The dough was very chewy and had a good flavour.
There was a strong cinnamon flavour in the cinnamon sugar coating, which probably means they mix it themselves.
The jam wasn’t homemade but was the fake, commercially made jam. But I expect that from a small bakery. There was a good amount of jam in the donut.

All up, the Jam Donut was nice and was just what I needed that evening.
