VIVID Sydney is a great event that takes place at the end of May to mid-June every year in Sydney. There are things happening around different parts of the city, including the Fire Kitchen near Central Station.

This year, Miss Sina was there doing, among other things, Creme Brûlée Donuts.

Miss Sina is not known for their food trucks. They are a vegan cafe in Marrickville and sell absolutely top-quality products. I love going there because the food is always freshly made and very very tasty.

I heard recently that the landlord wants to end their lease at Marrickville, which would be a huge shame because they have become an institution. The owner has built the business up and now it may be shut down. I hope that is sorted out.

Back to VIVID.

I got a Creme Brûlée Donut. They ‘cooked’ it in front of me – that is, they roasted the sugar topping, caramelising it, giving it the distinctive Creme Brûlée flavour.

It was amazing.

There was loads of custard inside the donut, and it was a beautiful flavour. Remember, it’s vegan, so it’s made without animal milk.

And the burnt sugar was lovely. It was just the right amount of sweetness and burnt flavour.

The dough was the same beautiful, tasty dough that I have enjoyed before when I’ve had donuts from Miss Sina.

Top class.

As I said, I hope the Miss Sina people can work out their leasing issues, because it’s a cafe that demands to stay in business.
