Forster is a beautiful town about 3 hours drive north of Sydney. I love visiting Forster. It has stunning beaches and a very nice relaxed vibe. It has been developed substantially over the last 20 years or so, which is a bit of a shame, but we can’t halt progress.

In the town village, some small businesses remain, probably relying heavily on the tourist trade.

One morning, on my coffee run, I passed a deli, called Marcella’s Deli, and was quite surprised to see some doughnuts.

There was only one flavour – chocolate. I asked if it was Nutella and I was assured it wasn’t. I am not a fan of the Nutella flavour.

Anyway, I got one.

I’m pretty sure the filling was in fact Nutella. So I didn’t really enjoy the doughnut. If you look at my photo of the open doughnut, you’ll see some dark chocolate around the outer area of the filling, and some lighter coloured, smooth chocolate in the middle. I think that’s Nutella.

The dough itself was a bit too chewy.

The icing was okay. It was the sort of icing that is firm and cracks when you break it.

For me it was disappointing, but Nutella lovers, who seem to be the majority, might enjoy it.

I should also say that while I didn’t get anything else there, the food looks fantastic, and I encourage people to support small businesses such as Marcella’s Deli in Forster.
