Talk about being at the right place at the right time. I happened to stumble across Rude Boy Doughnuts in Alexandria one evening. I have been aware of the place for a while, but they have just started opening a hole-in-the-wall doughnut shop in the evenings.

I strolled past one night at about 9:30pm and noticed a queue of people. Yee haa – doughnut time!

They had a small sign with the range available. I got two. On this occasion, I’ll talk about the Custard Doughnut.

The dough was absolutely beautiful. Lovely and chewy, perfectly cooked and quite a lot of flavour for plain dough. It had a coating of sugar.

The custard was unusual. While most custards are yellow, this one was very pale in colour and had a smooth viscous texture. It tasted lovely and suited the doughnut perfectly.

Getting a doughnut from Rude Boy at Alexandria is a bit tricky. They are only available at certain times and on certain days. It’s worth checking their website or asking them in person when they are available. It’s well worth it.
