There was a time when finding a doughnut in Westfield Miranda was difficult. But now, there are several options, including Brooklyn Donuts, Son Of A Baker, and recently, Krispy Kreme.
On my most recent visit, I went to Brooklyn Donuts for a coffee and donut. This time, I got an Original Jam Donut. The promise of ‘homemade strawberry jam’ appealed to me.
The donut was coated in lots of sugar, while the dough was nice and soft, and like bread.
There was a dollop of jam on top and a good amount of strawberry jam filling.
The jam was creamy and light in colour instead of being a bright red that you come to expect with strawberry jam. It didn’t have any of the small seeds that strawberries have. I guess it had been pureed quite thinly. The flavour of the jam was nice – not too sweet.
I liked this donut because the jam made it different.
