Boston Doughnuts recently moved to better premises at Bass Hill Plaza. Bass Hill is in Sydney’s west, not far from Bankstown.

Their display looked amazing with an excellent range of tempting doughnuts in the display cases. When there’s a big range, it takes a while to decide which one or ones to buy. On this visit, I got a couple of doughnuts and I’ll review the Pineapple Doughnut.
Firstly, the service could be somewhat friendlier. The girl serving must have known I was next to be served but moved to the opposite end of the counter, never making eye contact with me. She didn’t smile once. It’s not hard. It really isn’t. And makes a world of difference to the customer experience.

Anyway, on to the doughnut.
When I got doughnuts at their previous premises, they were huge. Probably too big. I’m not a big eater and while I loved that they were huge, I found that they were more than I wanted to eat in one sitting. While their doughnuts are still large, they seem to be a bit smaller, about which I am happy. You just don’t need a massive doughnut to enjoy it.
The Pineapple Doughnut was lovely. The dough was soft and fresh.

The pineapple glazing was good but I felt could have used a bit more pineapple tang. It was still nice. It wasn’t quite the same as the old-school 1970s Pineapple Doughnuts many of us reminisce about.
Boston Doughnuts in Bass Hill is a must-visit for Sydney’s doughnut lovers.
