I finally got around to visiting Daddy Donuts at their new outlet in Beverly Hills in Sydney’s south. They used to have a shop on Canterbury Road, Campsie but it was for online orders only – no walk-ins.

I was impressed with the large range of doughnuts they had on display. It seems one of their proudest creations is the Knafeh Donut of which they more on display than any other flavour.
However, I went with a Pineapple Donut. I have loved pineapple doughnuts since I was a kid. Although this one was obviously different to the ones of my childhood.

I liked the vibrant yellow colour of the icing. One problem. It had absolutely no detectable pineapple flavour. It was pineapple in appearance only. It did have a pineapple lolly sitting in the icing. But apart from that, it was just a donut with yellow icing.

I need to point out that the doughnut was only $3.50, so it was never meant to be a gourmet delicacy.
The dough was very nice. Fresh, soft, and airy. It held up very well.
Surely the icing can have some sort of pineapple flavour added to it to justify the name.
