Here’s a place I never knew existed until I did a bit of internet hunting. It’s called Pasticceria Massimo Papa and is in Fairy Meadow, which is just north of Wollongong on the beautiful NSW south coast. Some signs say it’s just called Massimo Papa.

Even though it’s on the main road, it feels tucked away. That’s because they have a parking area at the front, and the store is at the back. The parking is pretty tight – I’m pleased I went when it was quiet.

So you go through the main doors and then more doors to get to the place to buy your food. It has a sit down area where you can have a pastry and coffee or tea.

There are some pretty strict signs inside telling you how to line up to buy your food. I felt it was a bit like that Seinfeld episode with the Soup guy. Fortunately, the service was friendly.

I got a doughnut with jam filling.

I was really hoping that they would put in a quality homemade jam, but it was the puree style, which is commercially made. However, the doughnut was very nice and well worth the visit.

There was loads of jam, including a big blob on top and lots inside the doughnut. The dough was soft and delicious. It was also covered in a soft sugar.

If you love Italian pastries, and who doesn’t, Pasticceria Massimo Papa in Fairy Meadow is a great spot.
