I’ve had a mochi doughnut before in Sydney, and I wasn’t impressed. At the time, I didn’t spot anything different about it. I think perhaps I was unfamiliar with the mochi texture and flavour.

I spotted Mochi Donuts in Wynyard and knew I’d have to give this place a go now that I am a little more familiar with mochi.

Mochi Donuts had a very small range – only about 5 different flavours. I had to try the mango-flavoured one.

The icing was quite firm and had a gentle mango flavour. It made the doughnut very sweet.

The dough was very nice. I could clearly taste the mochi texture and flavour. It was very nice and made the doughnut somewhat different to your average doughnut.

Very sweet, but nice.

Be aware, their website says that their flavours change weekly. So if you want the mango one, it mightn’t be available when you go.
