They don’t make it easy to find the results, but I have located the list of winners of the Baking Associations of Australia National Donut Competition, which took place on Wednesday 31 May 2023.

The big winner was Doughheads who are in Newcastle. They took out Champion Show Donut. I haven’t tried their donuts, but now I’m keener than ever for a trip to Newcastle.

There were also awards in 6 categories. Here are the results:

I’m not sure if it’s their typo, or for some reason there are two Class 005s.

Interestingly, most of the winners are from New South Wales. I consider Victoria to be the doughnut capital of Australia. Perhaps with the event being held in Sydney, they didn’t bother.

Congratulations to the winners. I’d like to know who entered because there are some places that make outstanding doughnuts that aren’t on the winners list.
